Electrical Sensitivities, Ancient Aliens, and the August IANDS Conference

* * * You will definitely want to receive my July Newsletter. If you have not subscribed yet you can do so, it's free. Just access my website at www.pmhatwater.com, scroll over to Newsletter, then subscribe. You want this one because it focuses on electrical sensitivity and other anomalies as aftereffects of near-death states. It is specific.

* * * I will be on the History Channel, Ancient Aliens, their segment about the near-death experience, on October 10th. If for any reason this program date is changed, check their website: www.history.com. Air dates are declared several weeks in advance. If there is a change, you can find it there. I will be one of many discussing this topic.

* * * Come to the 2014 Conference on Near-Death States in Newport Beach, CA August 28-31. You do not want to miss this conference. For details, go to www.iands.org. This is the website of the sponsoring group - the International Association for Near-Death Studies. You want to be there for the opening session, Thursday night, August 28, because that's when I debut my newest book, Dying to Know You: Proof of God in the Near- Death Experience. . . plus the accompanying hour-plus DVD showing Drawings by Near-Death Experiencers, one right after another.

Hello Dr. Atwater, just came across your blog. What is your opinion of the afterlife account of Emanuel Swedenborg? I have found an independent Near Death Experience that confirms some of the things he saw - see "A Journey to Heaven by Richard Sigmund and Emanuel Swedenborg" - http://dream-prophecy.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-journey-to-heaven-by-richard-sigmund.html

Swedenborg was an inspired genius. His work deserves consideration and respect. And his work holds up with many modern accounts - except for two things.

He stated something to the extent that every individual meets on the Other Side exactly what he or she believed to be true by the way they lived their lives on this side. Seems to be true, but isn't. There are many counters to his idea - too many in fact for anyone to take his statements about this as "gospel."

At first glance, his assessment of what the Other Side is and how it's populated and continues, fits, but when you look deeper there are many challenges to his statements. Remember, his claims are his own. Yes what he offered is invaluable and in many ways what he saw and experienced is similar to claims from multiple cultures. Still, all any of us can do, including him, is share glimpses. The "authority" he stated can be and is challenged.

Swedenborg does talk about "reciprocal conjunction," where a person can receive spiritual influx inasmuch as they are ready to receive it. But that does not mean people only see what they believe, he does mention many instances where newly dead spirits are surprised what they see, and they learn something that they did not know before. So he talks about both sides of the coin.

Still, its not the full story, he said once that since God is infinite heaven contains infinite things, and it will take eternity to explore everything. He does make minor mistakes from the scientific knowledge of his day, and does not adequately explain the origin of the soul.

He does talk about past life memories, and explains it as "shared memory" between similar spirits, and thus discounts reincarnation. While that is the most likely explanation, I am somewhat agnostic on that point.

Granted, he makes those claims but he also belabors personal beliefs and behaviors - too much for me as I have seen both, what would agree with him and challenge him. As a more in-depth rendering of what near-death experiencers can share, read my newest book due out in three weeks: Dying to Know You: Proof of God in the Near-Death Experience.

Blessings, PMH
